The kitchen is one of the rooms that you spend most of your days in and there are quite a few ways to make it more rustic.  The first thing to consider when decorating your kitchen in the rustic style are of course the cabinets.  Are they in the style that lends itself well to rustic decorating? If not, you may consider getting some new cabinets, preferably made of natural wood and rustic finish.  The next thing to consider are of course the counter tops, which should also be made of natural wood, treated so as to be as durable as possible against everyday use.

However, even if you do not plan to invest in a whole new set of cabinets to decorate your kitchen in the rustic style, you still have many options of how to proceed.  A rustic style table is of course the centerpiece of any such endeavor.  And the best thing is that it does not need to cost a fortune.  You can turn any type of table into a rustic style one, simply by covering it with a quaint, country-style tablecloth.  As for the chairs, you can equip them with cushions made of a cottage-style cloth.

Another great way to make your kitchen more rustic is by placing rustic style bowls, pitchers, cups and jars on available surfaces.  You can fill these with fruit, vegetables, cooking and eating utensils, cookies and other items needed in the kitchen.

Above all, try to keep your kitchen as clutter free as possible.  Only in this way will the rustic themed pieces really stand out.
